Gecko Eggs, big surprise!

earlier post:–

eggshatched.jpgMy earlier Blog on Eggs found in a planter in the garden. I got no response to this Blog, so thinking that I would be the proud owner of a large number of Gecko`s to help clean up my garden I kept them moist in a cupboard. Today I decided to see how they were as I have every 2 days and was surprised to find the cupboard full of small snails. I used to have a snail problem but thought it was now under control. I think Snail Ban is in order now in the garden as maybe there were more of these eggs around. I supose that if I dont want to kill them, I could just put them in someone elses garden. Any sugestions?

Free Power from Old Printer parts.

All you nead is two coffee tins and a stepping motor from an old printer. First cut the bottom out of one tin and solder it to the top of the other one. Then cut the tin into two and solder them together as in the last picture, having a 40mm overlap. Then dril a hole at both ends to fit the drive shaft. The motor comes with the drive shaft and belt drive. The drive has a 8 to 1 stepup so the turbine can go round quite slowly and still spin the motor fast. Using a diode bridge and limiting resistor I can charge my mobile or battery pack in 2 hrs. I am building one now without the gear ratio, straight onto the motor. This seems to operate much better in times of low speed wind. At the moment it is just a prototype and is just lighting a few bright white LEDs in the garden.

Prototype Water/Vacuum Valve (see through)

vacuum-meter.JPGvac-position.JPGwater-position.JPGsuction-on.jpgwater-out.jpgvalve-ports.jpg

Originaly made to syringe out ears but has many other uses where a liquid must be poured into a cavity and removed without re-insertion of the nozzle. The valve has 4 “o” rings to seperate the ports, they came out of old lighters. The body was made from Perspex to allow the funtions to be seen. The ports on the brass valve are connected through the centre and sealed on the left hand side where the return spreing fits. It is quite small and is being used daily to test its viability. The Vacuum guage was made to test varios  working parts. This unit is just a well fitting piston held up with a soft spring. There is a ventin the top to ollow the piston to travel up and down.

Bungi Santa.

This is a cake that my Wife has baked and decorated for our Grandkids. Last year it was a Surfing Santa. Has anyone got any ideas for next year?   Please email JJ at;——    morven@live.co.za
